Games Lake - MN County Park #7

I took these photos on Sunday at the MN County Park # 7 on Games Lake. My husband and I took the weekend off from our remodeling project. We had a great time with our friends. Rita, the caretaker of the park, still had wonderful color in her shade garden. I just love the wind chime she had hanging from the store.

Fall

It feels like it changed to the Fall season over night. The colors are amazing, and the temperature dropped. Today's high is forecast for 55 degrees, and we have our first frost advisory for tonight.

Geranium 'Apple blossom Rosebud'

Pelargonium x hortorum

This is one of my favorite geranium. It has multi-double flowers, each one resembing a tiny rosebud. The flowers are mostly white with a pale green center and each petal has a pink edge - looks like a true Apple Blossom.

Good Morning

Unbelievable sunrise on my way to work yesterday morning. This photo was taken just on the edge of my town. The first view I had of the sunrise.

I made a quick stop at the start of Lake Wagonga.

As I stood there and snapped photos the view just got better and better.

Less then 2 minutes it looked like this. Amazing how quickly it changes.

Outdoor Wednesday

Even though I really love the fall season, I hate to see the flowers go. Some of my flower bed still look great. I took these photos yesterday. The weather here is gorgeous! It was in the 80's yesterday, with a nice breeze. Everything looks so nice and green with the trees just starting to change colors.

Mosaic Monday

These have been great container flowers for me this year. They are still blooming. The little white ones are Nemesia Fruticans. The green vines with the red flowers is Mezoo Trailing Red Dorotheanthus. The begonia is Mocca Orange. It will not be long and I will have to empty my containers. But for now I will just enjoy them.

Strawflowers

I know I post a lot about strawflowers, but I just love them. I took these photos last night.

Dwarf Teddybear Sunflowers

These flowers are about 3" across, and the plant stands about 2 1/2' tall. It is so cute. I planted these seeds this year because my mom just loves them. They started blooming about 2 weeks ago.

This one isn't perfect, but it sure is unique.

New bed

We are doing major remolding this year including; new kitchen, new flooring in most of the house, new lighting in most of the house, new ceiling, new front steps, new driveway and new garage floor. That was what was planned. But the new garage floor led to painting the garage walls. Then led to a new door in the garage to the house. Pretty much the whole house is torn apart and I am now living out of boxes.

After the new driveway was done there was a mess in the front yard. At first I was very disappointed. Then I thought maybe I could make a new bed.

This is the shrub I posted yesterday.

I am moving plants from my other beds to fill this bed. It is just the start.

This is the view coming out of the garage.

Prairie Radiance Winterberry Euonymus

This is a new shrub my brother helped me pick out. I have been working on a new bed and will be showing you photos of it this week. The color of the shrub is amazing. Hardiness for zones 3-7, and winter hardy to -40 degrees F.

Delicate pink fruit splits open to reveal red seeds that persist into the winter. Today is Mosic Monday. Please check other the others at Little Red House.

Astilbe

Astilbes enjoy light or part shade and tolerate full shade. I really like these plants, because they add such a splash of color, and I have alot of shade.

Astibes make great cut flowers, and if you leave the plumes in a vase as the water evaporates, you'll have dried flowers to enjoy all winter.

Zinnia's
