Dark-eyed Junco

We have had lots of Dark-eyed Juncos in our yard all winter.  I think they they are so hard to photograph, because their eyes just blend in.  The sun was shining yesterday when I took this photo, and I was able to see its eye.

Love the Color

We still have mountains of snow, and it will be a while before I see soil.  I am really excited to see the color of the birds.  The male House Finch is so colorful.

If they had tongues to tell it, or we ears fine enough to understand

The oaks and the pines, and their brethren of the wood,

have seen so many suns rise and set, so many seasons come and go,

and so many generations pass into silence,

This gorgeous tree is on the farm of my friend, Judy. It is a Pinus sylvestris or commonly called Scotch or Scots pine.  The lifespan is normally 150–300 years, with the oldest recorded specimens (in Sweden) just over 700 years. 

Judy knows that this tree is over 100 years old.  Her beautiful daughter had her wedding at the farm last fall and had photos taken under this tree.  It is amazing to think of how old this tree is and what joy it has given to many generations.

House Finch and Snow Update

The snow is down to 16 1/2".  We are having thunder storms today with high of 37° F.

Tomorrow we are getting snow with the high at 26° F.

 This is the view from my front door.  I am starting to see some soil!

The house finches are back.  This means warmer weather!

It is melting!

 It is down 4" in 2 days.  YEAH!

 Sorry about the poor photo quality,  but I was so excited to see it.

March 15th is Garden Bloggers Bloom Day. This is my first time participating.  I don't have anything blooming yet, but the snow is starting to disappear and I have spring fever!

Stampin' Up Class

My friend, Rose, and I went to a Stampin'Up class, and made these four cards. On the first card, the butterfly is 3-D.  Next weekend I am going to a scrap booking work day.  I hope to get a whole bunch more made.
