House Finch

We finally received some snow.  With this white background the red of the male House Finch sure stands out.
A House Finch is a slender, sparrow-sized bird around 5 to 5.75 inches long with short, stubby convex bill and square-tipped tail.

House Finches remember where they can find a source of food. Once you attract certain House Finches to your feeder, they will be sure to keep coming back as long as you keep refilling your feeder.
House finches come easily to my feeders for sunflower seeds.  I really enjoy watching them.

Back from Vacation

We just got back from a wonderful cruise to the Western Caribbean.  The sky was just crazy with amazing colors.

Today is "Skywatch Friday".  Check out some other great blogs here.

Black-capped Chickadee

These cute little chickadees have been busy first thing in the morning at my feeders. I also have a feeder attached to my window and they just come and eat out of it. It has been so much fun to watch them.

Chickadees can gain as much as 10 percent of their body weight each day and lose it all again during a cold winter night. Chickadees weigh less than one-half of an ounce. Good thing we have had such a mild winter. Temps have been in the 40’s.

Still a little "Fall" color

We had a beautiful fall. The colors were gorgeous, but I didn't take very many photos. Hope to get my camera out and take some more this week.
